Welcome to Shining Heart Yoga!
Let your heart Shine
The first time I took a yoga class in 1993, I knew it was always going to be part of my life. I have always been an active physical person but the steadiness of the mind and openness of heart that crept in was what kept me coming to class. As a practicing physical therapist I would recommend yoga to my clients but many told me that they had hurt themselves during a yoga class. I had clients come to me with injuries they had received in a yoga class! After hearing these stories, and with the encouragement of my clients, family and friends, I attended and completed a 200 hour Raja Ashtanga Yoga training with Elena Case in Maynard, Mass in 2004.
I enjoyed practicing and teaching while yearning for something more. I attended a weekend yoga workshop and met my next teacher Todd Norian. I felt like I had come home to myself. I completed an Ashaya Yoga 200 hour training in 2014 and completed my 500 hour Ashaya yoga training in 2019. I have a assisted Todd in many trainings.
My classes are Ashaya Yoga®. If you area working with an injury I can help you safely modify the poses to avoid injury and heal. My intention is to help others to open to the healing that yoga can provide on the physical, mental, and emotional levels. We all have inherent gifts. Yoga can help us recognize and bring them forward to share with the world. The first step and often hardest part is to show up.

Is this the right yoga class for you?
Are you looking for a therapeutic experience?
This class is for you if you are looking for a therapeutic experience with a focus on proper alignment. The class moves at a slow flowing pace pausing at times to hold a pose or explore an aspect the pose. Verbal and physical (hands on) assists are offered to help with alignment and to keep the student safe. Ashaya Yoga® builds strength, balance, flexibility and heals chronic pain.
Are you looking for a complete yoga experience?
This class is for you if you are looking for a complete yoga experience beyond the asanas (poses). Ashaya Yoga® is a transformational yoga which aligns body, mind and heart with your true self to awaken your inherent potential as a human being. We blend positive heart virtues with the alignment techniques to support the entry to or deepening of your yoga practice.
Do you want to get strong and flexible?
This class is for you if you want to get strong as well as flexible. This method involves the act of “engagement “by either hugging the muscles around the bone or drawing energy from the earth to one on the body’s 4 energy (spanda) centers. The act of engaging the muscles makes the muscles and bones stronger while protecting the joints before you align. When you engage the muscles, the joints feel safe and this allows for a deeper stretch and ultimately more flexibility.
Are you looking for a fast pace?
This class is NOT for you if you are looking for a fast paced vinyasa or any class that moves at a fast pace. This class is not for you if you are looking for just a workout or stretching with no theme or aspect of spirituality.
